Emergencies, appointments, insurance and pharmacies
- Emergency: call 112. Hospital emergency departments are open 24 hours.
- Appointments: for state hospitals, call 182 or use MHRS. According to the migration authority's leaflet, university and private hospitals are not included.
- Insurance: general health insurance (GSS) usually requires one year of residence. Foreign students can apply within 3 months of first enrolling.
- Pharmacies: many medicines, such as antibiotics, need a prescription. From 19:00 to 09:00 only on-duty pharmacies (nöbetçi eczane) are open.
